ARK Vision: Kasunmu Concludes 2-Day Free Eye Care Outreach For Over 500 Residents In Ikeja Constituency II
The Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, has successfully concluded a two-day free eye care outreach that benefited over 500 residents across Ikeja Constituency II.
The outreach, tagged *ARK Vision Free Eye Care Outreach*, was organized in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) to commemorate the 2026 World Sight Day, themed _“Love Your Eyes: Every Story Counts.”_
The exercise which held on Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9, 2026, at Hon. Kasunmu’s Constituency Office, No. 40, Seriki Aro Street, off Obafemi Awolowo Way, near Under Bridge, Ikeja, attracted a massive turnout of beneficiaries including elderly residents, market women, youth and school children.
Residents enjoyed free services including eye screening, eye tests, doctors consultation and counselling, free reading glasses, eye-care kits, medication support and specialist referrals for those requiring surgery.
Speaking at the outreach, Hon. Kasunmu, popularly known as ARK, said the initiative was borne out of the need to protect vision and bring essential healthcare to the grassroots, noting that many constituents cannot access specialized eye care services due to cost and distance.
The LASUTH Team Lead, Dr. S. D. Bashorun, who led the medical team, commended Hon. Kasunmu for the initiative and praised the high turnout. She stressed the importance of regular eye checks and disclosed that some patients examined would require surgery for permanent correction.
Beneficiaries who spoke at the venue expressed appreciation to the lawmaker, describing the outreach as timely and impactful, and lauded him for prioritizing health and welfare in his representation.
Hon. Kasunmu, who represents Ikeja Constituency II and is serving his third term, reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered representation and assured that more health interventions would be extended to other parts of the constituency.
The ARK Vision outreach is one of several interventions by the lawmaker aimed at improving access to healthcare and promoting healthy living in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
