Peter Obi's record isn't different from Buhari's, says Farooq Kperogi

Farooq Kperogi writes:

1) Obi is also a social media creation. On ethnic and religious tolerance, his record isn't different from Buhari's, according to media reports I've read. He called Ngige a Yoruba man in 2013, implying that it's undesirable to be Yoruba.

2) In 2013, when Idemili women protested after being disenfranchised, Obi said the women were from *Osun State* in order to delegitimize them.

3) Similarly, on election day in 2013 when the DSS abducted El-Rufai in Anambra, Obi wondered what El-Rufai was doing in Anambra and said El-Rufai should go back to his Katsina State (he's actually from Kaduna).

4) Obi's ethnic politics as a governor was so acute that Okey Ndibe called him out on it in several columns, saying in one column that "such appeals to base, ethnic sentiments would return to haunt him if he ever seeks to be a political player at the national level."

5) Obi also played religious politics in the predominantly Christian Anambra State: he played Catholics against Anglicans, which Ndibe also called out, and which many people from Anambra called out in real time. The records are there on the internet. And his current campaign is also decidedly colored by religion, which is reflected in the demographic profiles of his presidential campaign council.

6) As for how much money he saved when he was governor, his successor, Willie Obiano, said it was a lie. He said Obi left more liabilities than assets, and asked Obiano to refund him more than 7 billion naira for supporting Obiano's election.

7) Obi was also virulently anti-worker. Lecturers went on strike for 6 months, doctors went on strike for 13 months, and civil servants went on strike to demand a measly 18,000 minimum wage. He was very mean to workers, and he is ironically running on the platform of a workers' party.

😎 Nothing in his past, which I researched thoroughly, makes him different from Buhari. Plus, he has shown himself to be just as lazy as Buhari. It took him forever to come up with a running mate.

9) He has no manifesto as I write this. And he couldn't even read and vet his presidential campaign list.

10) If these are not red flags that he is just a social media creation that won't be different from Buhari, I don't know what is.
