Many Nigerians in South Africa have expressed their desire to return home voluntarily but have been living in fear because of immigration challenges. Some have overstayed their visas, while others have been unable to renew their permits for various reasons. Sadly, many have been arrested at the airport while trying to leave the country.
If you *DO NOT HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD*, can afford to purchase your own flight ticket, and genuinely wish to return to Nigeria, there is good news.
From Saturday, 1 August 2026, assistance will be provided to eligible Nigerians to help facilitate a smoother departure process.
