Some of Tupac Shakur’s family walked out of the courtroom today. Others stayed to look.On day two of Duane “Keffe D” Davis’s murder trial in Las Vegas, prosecutors showed jurors autopsy photos from Shakur’s 1996 death for the first time. Forensic pathologist Dr. Lisa Gavin, testifying because the original examiner has since died, walked the jury through a photo of the body bag first, then the images of Shakur’s injuries — chest wounds, tattoos, the tubes still in his body from the six days he survived after the shooting.
The footage wasn’t broadcast on the trial’s public video feed. Some relatives stepped out before the photos went up. Others stayed, looked away, or later said facing the details helped them process the grief they’ve carried for almost 30 years. Davis sat still, watching the screen, occasionally leaning to whisper to his attorney.
