Nollywood Mourns the Loss of Ayotunde Elegbede "Ay Light"
The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, is in mourning following the sudden passing of Ayotunde Elegbede, popularly known as Ay Light, a talented young director of photography and movie maker.
Ay Light, one of the aspiring strengths of Nollywood, lost his life on August 9th, 2025, after a brief illness. His demise has sent shockwaves through the industry, particularly among young movie makers who admired and respected him.
Despite the sadness that fills their hearts, Ay Light's colleagues and friends are finding the strength to celebrate his life and legacy. His contributions to Nollywood will not be forgotten, and his memory will continue to inspire and motivate aspiring filmmakers.
Ay Light is survived by his aged mother, brothers, sisters, nephew, and cousins. A Candle Night Procession will be held in his honor on Friday, August 15th, 2025, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Jacob Sonala Street, Ogba, Oke-Ira.
The film community and beyond are invited to come out and celebrate the life of Ay Light, a talented young man who left an indelible mark on Nollywood. His legacy will live on through his work and the countless lives he touched.
